The Other Woman: Solidarity, Feminist ‘Beauty’ Critiques + the cult of chatbot therapy?

Hi y’all. This episode of STC rolls out in (roughly) four parts:

  • Intro + it’s ok to not be okay >> First, I offer a recap of some recent main feed releases, then talk about the real deal struggle to keep showing up in the face of wtf.
  • Personal story >> I share about the time, back in 2010, when a kind-hearted Brit named Lucy changed my relationship to “the other woman” forever. It’s a firsthand account of how solidarity can transform relational dynamics and disrupt hegemonic norms.
  • Body critiques; yay or nay >> There is currently an online debate begging us to discern between careless commenting on women’s bodies and taking a critical look at how influence and industries continually shape our self-perceptions. I’m here for the latter.
  • Is AI gettin’ culty, y’all? >> I recently had an IRL interaction that was 🤯, and it inspired me to look into the ethical implications of chatbots, specifically the psychological impact of regular engagement. It’s a reminder to proceed with caution.

Also, in the context of this discussion, I invite support for independent businesses this holiday season (IF you do the consumerism thing, that is; reality check, not everyone does).

Here’s the Fire + Folk candle company that I mentioned. Please drop links to your favorite small businesses below!

Don’t forget to tell me what you’d like to see happen here in the new year!
